Frequently Asked Questions
Can I request a specific delivery date?
Hand delivery is available in Titahi Bay and Porirua City Centre on specified dates. For all other areas, shipping is available across New Zealand. North Island courier deliveries, handled by NZ Post, are typically delivered within 1–2 days, while South Island deliveries via Aramex take approximately 3–5 days. While every effort is made to ensure timely arrivals, exact delivery dates cannot be guaranteed. Please allow 1–2 days for order preparation. At checkout, you’ll see the item price, delivery cost, and an estimated delivery time. Delivery times may vary based on your location, item availability, and when you place your order.
You can also find arrangements on display and available for purchase at Tbay Café and 1nine7two Hair Salon, both located in the Whitehouse Road shops in Titahi Bay. If purchasing from one of these local businesses, select the pickup option “Buying from a Porirua Business” at checkout.

Can I update or add more items after I have placed an order online?
Yes, if you'd like to add another arrangement, some chocolates, a teddy, or a card to an existing order, that is no problem, as long as you get in touch before the courier is booked. Otherwise, a new courier fee will be applied if the item cannot fit into the existing box booked for pick-up.
If you would like to upgrade an existing order or change the arrangement, please email us at aimee@freedomfloristry.co.nz with the details of your request. We can accommodate changes or additions as long as the original order hasn't already been prepared and packaged for shipment. If the arrangement needs to be upgraded or altered, we will invoice you for the difference. Please note that new orders placed online will be subject to separate shipping charges, and any changes or additions will only be possible if the original order hasn't already been processed for shipping.
How long do dried and preserved flowers last?
When properly cared for, dried flowers can last for several months to years, depending on the type of flower and environmental conditions. Keeping them away from direct sunlight and humidity will help extend their lifespan. Preserved flowers maintain an appearance identical to fresh blooms but boast an enduring freshness that can persist for several years. Additionally, their texture mirrors that of freshly cut flowers. However, it's important to note that despite their resilience, all dried and preserved flowers will inevitably fade and degrade over time, as they remain a natural product at their core.
Can I customise my order?
Yes, we offer customisation options for many products. Whether you're looking for specific colors, arrangements, or vessels, I can work with you to create a personalised design. Please leave details of the customisations you'd like in the 'Order Comments' box at checkout or reach out to me at aimee@freedomfloristry.co.nz with your requirements, and I'll be happy to assist you.
How should I care for my dried and preserved flowers?
Protect from Sunlight:
Avoid placing your florals in direct sunlight, as this can make them brittle and cause their colors to fade.
Keep Them Dry:
Avoid moisture by keeping them away from humidity, like in bathrooms or kitchens. Moisture can cause them to deteriorate over time.
Limit Handling:
The less you touch them, the longer they’ll last. Oils from your hands can sometimes affect their condition.
Dust Gently:
Use a soft brush or a hairdryer on the lowest, coolest setting to remove any dust that may settle.
Choose Their Spot Thoughtfully:
Display them somewhere free from strong breezes or accidental bumps to preserve their shape and structure.
Consider Long-Term Solutions:
For extra longevity, you might frame or encase them, though this isn’t necessary to keep them looking lovely for a long time.
Are dried and preserved flowers eco-friendly?
Yes, dried and preserved flowers are an eco-friendly alternative to fresh flowers. By preserving natural blooms, we reduce the need for water and pesticides, making them a sustainable choice for floral arrangements and decorations. Their longevity further enhances their sustainability and fosters a less consumeristic approach to floral choices. Floral creations have traditionally been short-lived and disposable - challenge this norm by choosing dried and preserved flowers and enjoy floral beauty that stands the test of time.
What is the difference between dried and preserved flowers?
Dried flowers are natural flowers that have been carefully hung up and air dried to maintain their appearance and longevity. They are perfect for long-lasting floral arrangements and décor. Preserved flowers are natural flowers that have undergone a special preservation process to maintain their beauty and a fresh appearance for an extended period. The most popular preservation process uses glycerin to halt the breakdown of the petals, although various other techniques exist. Unlike fresh flowers, preserved flowers do not rely on water or sunlight to maintain their vibrancy and can last for years when well looked after.
